Digital Technology

Year 7, 8 and 9

In the contemporary learning environment at Catholic Regional College Melton, from 2022, Year 7 and 8 students will have access to a junior laptop while Year 9 students continue to use their iPad.

These devices are used to enhance student learning with a variety of subject specific applications, provide access to textbooks and a variety of online testing programs.

Year 10, 11 and 12

The learning needs and final work product for students in Year 10, 11 and 12 are very different to those in the earlier years of secondary schooling. As a result, the iPad and junior laptop do not provide suitable platforms for ongoing senior studies.

From 2022, Year 10 students have access to a school mandated senior laptop. This laptop will be used for their ongoing senior studies.

Year 11 and 12 students continue with the current Bring Your Own Device program based on their learning needs. The minimum requirements for these devices are outlined by the College.

ICT Provisions

Every classroom in the College has access to a data projector, Vivi access and speakers. Printers, scanners and photocopiers are also available for students. Wireless access to the internet and technical support is provided to all Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students to support learning using the laptops or iPad. Wireless access to the internet is available to Year 11 and 12 students under the Bring Your Own Device program however, repairs to devices remain the responsibility of students.

The College provides computer laboratories that meet the specific learning needs of a variety of subjects that require a more powerful device than the iPad or personal device. Specialised ICT equipment includes 3D printers, robotics equipment and data loggers used in various subjects.
