Faith in Action

Our central purpose at the College is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and empower students to live out its message in their lives.

The Social Justice Group provides many opportunities for young people to put their faith into action.

The group aims to enact positive social change both within the College and wider community. It meets fortnightly to discuss current social justice issues and to plan advocacy and fundraising events that are held throughout the year.

Some of the key events each term are:

Term 1 - Project Compassion and Cultural Diversity Week activities.

Term 2 - Refugee Week during which students are encouraged to bring in items for donation to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Melbourne.

Term 3 - Homelessness Week that features the Winter Sleep Out to raise funds for an organisation (chosen by the Social Justice captains) that provides support to the homeless in our community.

Term 4 - the CRC Melton Wishing Tree campaign during which each homeroom collects Christmas foods and gifts to create a hamper for a family in need in our community.

Ongoing support is also provided by the Social Justice group to a number of organisations.

Each year during Lent, the College supports Project Compassion, which is organised by Caritas, a Catholic agency for international aid and development. Caritas is Latin for 'love and compassion', two qualities that are central to their work. Students across all year levels of the College learn about the work of Caritas.

Brother Beausang

The College sends donations to Brother Beausang school in Kenya. These funds are predominantly raised at our school Celebration Day. Members of our school community have traveled to Kenya to visit the school, taking learning resources with them to donate to students and staff. Skype conferences have also been held to maintain and further develop the connection between the two schools.

Soup Van Ministry

Students from Year 12 can volunteer to take part in the Soup Van program, run by St Vincent de Paul. The students and College staff give generously of their time at the Melbourne Soup Van operating from Fitzroy.
