VicSRC Congress 2016

Over the holidays Chloe Laurel and Victoria Vassallo and myself attended the VicSRC Congress 2016 at Ormond College. This year the congress went for 3 days in which we were put into issue groups to discuss a topic we as students, face in our schools. Students from all over Victoria came together to actively shape the future of our education.
On the first night  a gala dinner was held to celebrate the coming together of the students from different schools; this years theme was a masquerade carnival. During this mesmerising night the students were given a live performance from circus performers to help celebrate the theme. During the second day we were split back into our issue groups to prepare for the lightening lobby session on the third and final day. On the second night, the VicSRC held the election for the future executors, in which our own Chloe Laurel applied. She was very nervous and thought she had no chance in getting the position, but when Chloe did her speech she amazed everyone by crumpling up her speech she had been writing since day one and going with her heart on how she felt about the VicSRC.
On the third day the 2016-2017 VicSRC Executives were announced and we are proud to say that Chloe will be on the team representing CRC Melton, living up to the legacy that Victoria Vassallo has left for her.
Not only was congress an amazing experience it allowed me to meet new people and listen to experiences from other schools that don’t have the same privileges as us, I have made some good friends in which I plan to keep in touch with. We wish Chloe all the best in her new role in the VicSRC .
